Epilogue of the Trip

Epilogue

After taking the trip to my own school, I get to think  alot of things. a thought that where I am, and where I am attending is not someplace suddenly appeared. The Unversity of Toledo has many histories, and I am only the part of that history. to make myself more meaningful, I should push myself to get to better place. UT is the important step in my life and maybe this time will never come back.

Many things that I have done within UT will be a manure to my life. I have come so far away looking only forward and not taking care of myself that much. the worst thing that I have done was not appreciating where I am and how far I have come. maybe I got tired or was lazy enough to fall back. but from this trip I get refreshed like the computer website is refreshed, I am starting again. it doesn't mean that I give up what I have done so far, but only going back to my original mind that when I believed myself that I can do everything and having no fear of fail or fear for upcoming problems.

there will be some times that I want to turn myself down and maybe give up on the problem. but whenever that time comes, I will think about this trip, and how I was able to put myself together to move forward in UT.

and someday, I will be some where I am proud of to be.

Day 5 - Library

University of Toledo – last destination

January 15th – January 22th
7 days of Field trip – day 5

This is basically the last day for my trip to school.
Because I got sick after second day,
I was not able to continue.

So I decided to end my days with where I study the most.

The Carlson library.

This is place where actually many people go to study everyday

Carlson Library opens almost 24 hours throughout a week except on Friday and Saturday. It closes at seven in the afternoon.

Those library hours are actually for information desks and other floors.

The first floor is open 24 hours.

Right before entering the library, there is The Writing Center located.
That is where linguistic major students or TAs helping out other students with essays and assignments.

You can sign up for certain TA or just get help from anyone by walking in.
It is very helpful, however, I strongly recommend for ESL students to get help from TA who is for ESL students especially.

this is source where you can get more information on writing center.

the first floor is mainly occupied for printers and computers.
Of course this floor is open 24 hours.

If you head downstair, there is Learning Enhancement Center. This is mainly for the people who are having with math, physics, and statics questions.

Second floor is actually re-designed recently, and nowadays,  there are many people use this place to help each other and also this floor is where English class is held at.

As we go higher floors, we can see it is where all the books are stored.
There are a lot of books however, most of books are for keeping records of things.
Compared to public library, there is a lot of books that are missing. .

There are rooms  for group studies, and lockers to keep things locked in.

I took of picture of western Asia
I guess I better get home and rest. ^^*

Day 4 - University Hall

University of Toledo – University Hall

January 15th – January 22th
7 days of Field trip – day 4

University of Toledo’s famous building, University Hall.
And visiting newest building and introducing what and where is about.
Walking in those buildings makes me feel like I went back in time to 1870s.

Great buildings with so many details still live.
Even with stairs and classroom.
There is still small things that we can’t recognize.

Today, I will try to explain more with pictures

This is actually the main entrance,
however people does not use this door often, because all other buildings are there beyond University Hall

It should have been all classrooms and lockers for students. But now its for storage and classrooms are becoming more offices and labs.

There is some place like that… I couldn’t enter which was a bit discouraging.

.

University Hall has two big trees in inside of the building.
University Hall is shaped like number 8, and each circle has a big tree inside.

If you walk in, which is a second floor.
One of problem with University Hall is there is no elevator connects first floor to sixth floor.
You have to connect second floor to transfer the elevator. The hallway is decorated with pictures of other related colleges.

University Hall is constructed on 1931, cost was 2,000,000 dollars.
during construction 400 workers took 11 months to complete it.
one of special thing about university hall is that the building was used 50,000 tons of limestone to complete the 63 foot tall building and its 205 tower.

http://www.math.utoledo.edu/

This is right behind the University Hall, one of problem with this location is there isn’t much chair to sit on.

This is Student Union, where Offices, Dining hall, Orientation, and Cafeteria are located in

Dining is opened from 7 a.m to until 8 p.m. and normally foods seem to be similar everyday.

Besides Dining hall, there is Food Court where anyone can freely buy.
the maing problem with this cafeteria is that it is not open on weekends.
and also even on friday, some of stores close early.
it is because the dining hall in Student Union close early.

Well, lets head back to University hall since we got our suffer

If you walk out one of Univeristy hall ‘s the door, it leads to newest building, Stranahan Hall

This is only spot that floor blooms during spring.
With Toledo’s weather, it is not easy to see flowers a lot.
But this place has water fountain and located under the trees, which makes great place to rest during summer as well.

This building is mainly for business major students and since this building has quite a distance from Student Union where we can food and drinks, this building has its own store.

As we go up to this building there is a big resting place which is open for anyone and actually very cool when spring and summer comes.
All those grass will turn green and blooms. Once plants are there, it will make a great place for rest.

Well, I caught cold. This is not good ^^*

Day 3 - Art Museum

University of Toledo – Art Museum

January 15th – January 22th
7 days of Field trip – day 3

I decided to have trip to little further places, but still in the campus.

University of Toledo has three different campus:
Main Campus, Health Science Campus, and Art Center.
You can get to Each campus on shuttle bus

On the way, I took some pictures because the streets are really pretty

I decided to visit my art class.
This is Visual Art Center, where my Art class is held at.

It has classrooms, art and computer labs, and library.
Mainly for art major people, but still a great place to study.

I actually had one of art class, and I enjoyed coming here, because there are many books that please the eyes, and also many of books are containing interesting subjects.

The visual Art Center is connected with the Art museum
The pictures on the wall is also one of famous artist’s design.

It is actually connected to the main entrance.

There are many flyers and information desks.
The price is free for everyone.

Parking fee costs 5 dollars for non members
Student lot is free for UT student.

http://www.toledomuseum.org

The Museum is divided into two wings: South and North

It is not always the same, however, they try to keep it sculpture on one side where as the other side is more with paintings.

Those paintings looks so realistic!
the facial expression are so well described.

this is one of positive thing about Toledo are Museum.

the exhibition keep changes monthly,
therefore the student or other people to come often and not get bored.
.

Sometimes they call actually pianist, and play songs on that piano.
although I was never be able to hear it.
it probably hard to move around.

This is Chinese year’s animal symbols. 2013 is Snake’s Year.

There is a guy sitting on second floor.
I thought he was one of staff at the museum.

He turned out to be a statue.
Looks so realistic.

This lady statue seems like telling me not to take a picture of her.

One of my favorite picture of napoleon.

An entire room is a piece of art.

The one in the middle is a well, used to have water in there.

After looking through pictures, we stop by food court.
It was first time for me as well.
So it was very fresh for me too.

this Cafeteria makes whole journey to Museum interesting.
with family, people can come here and take care of suffer.

well, that's about it for today.
Bye~
